The Evaluation Process
1. Let's Connect
Every evaluation starts with a conversation. This free 15-minute virtual consultation is a chance for you to share what's on your mind, ask questions, and figure out together whether Stay Curious is the right fit for your family. No pressure, no commitment, just a real conversation about your child.
2. You're the Expert
Before any testing begins, we take time to really listen. Through a virtual intake interview with you and your child, along with rating scales completed by the people who know them best, we build a foundation rooted in what you already know. You have been paying attention, this is where that matters most.
3. Getting Curious Together
This is where I get to spend real time with your child. Testing typically takes place across two sessions of three to four hours each. I want this to be a positive experience for your child and will follow their lead and stay genuinely curious about who they are beyond anything I've been told.
4. Gathering the Village
Alongside testing, I gather input from the people who see your child outside of the home; teachers, school teams, and other key people in their life through conversations and rating scales. For families in the Columbia area, this often includes an in-person school visit and we always ask your child first.
5. Making Sense of It All
Once the evaluation is complete, we sit down together to walk through every finding, not in clinical language, but in plain terms that actually mean something for your child's day-to-day life. You'll leave with a full written report, concrete next steps for school and home, and any additional resources that fit your family's needs. This isn't the end of the process. It's the beginning of a clearer path forward.
